OUTLOOK
Head coach Randall Gibson has several reasons to be optimistic heading into the new season. He returns a solid group of seniors who mix well with some younger talent coming up in the program.
“Glenpool will be led by four seniors. Only two senior players are back that have significant varsity experience. Although inexperienced, there are many ready to make a name for themselves this year,” coach Gibson said. “A talented group of juniors and sophomores look to help out tremendously this year. The Warriors look to rebound from last year’s 7-19 campaign. We have a great group of guys who have been working hard in the weight room and looking to find a spot on the floor this year. The summer has been very competitive, and I am looking forward to the season.”
Leading the way for the Warriors are Jamisen Baker (6-4, Sr.) at forward, Jonas Boyd (5-10, Sr.) at point guard, Chandler Roney (6-0, Sr.) at guard and Bryce Rowland (6-4, Sr.) at forward.
Rowland is a VYPE Top 100 selectee after averaging 9.8 points and 5.7 rebounds a game.
“Bryce has been a program fixture the past three years and looks to play a larger role this year as a senior. He is strong in the post but can also step outside and play a guard. He has excellent leaping ability and can play above the rim. He is a great vocal leader on and off the court. He gives 100 percent anytime he is on the court,” said coach Gibson.
Coach Gibson said Boyd has been a great leader throughout the summer and is looking to play a bigger role on offense. A smart player on and off the floor, Boyd is poised for a great senior season.
Also look for Joe Perales to contribute this season after a great summer of growth physically and fundamentally.
“He is a lean, tall guard who surprisingly strong when battling for boards in the paint. He sprints the floor in transition and plays great defense. He shoots the ball well and doesn’t mind playing any position on the floor. He will be a big help this year for the Warriors,” Gibson said.
