Glenpool’s Aiden Barry – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Southern Nazarene University

Aiden Barry- Glenpool High School

Aiden Barry is an All-State baseball player. He has come a long way from his T-ball days where his parents tell him he mostly played with the dirt. While he is hesitant to believe them, his athleticism is no longer in question. Aiden also played football most of his life and is skilled on the slopes. “I love to snowboard when I get the chance!” he exclaims.

This senior at Glenpool High School says sports have impacted him as a person. “I use many of the things I learned everyday but the biggest is self-determination. I feel like I can do anything I put my mind to.”

His participation on teams through the years has led to long lasting relationships with teammates. “I had many seniors take me in when I was a freshman, but Jake Roberts stands out. He was like my mentor that year teaching me more about the game,” said Aiden.

He is passionate about baseball and the challenges of the game. “Baseball is tough. I have never been the biggest guy, but I make up for that with my desire to win and be there for my team,” he says.

Aiden laughs saying his size is a big reason he looks up to Houston Astros, Jose Altuva, who is the shortest active MLB player. “Altuva plays the game how it should be played. You can always tell how much he loves to play,” says Aiden.

As Aiden’s accomplishments in baseball stack up, he remembers this advice from his dad. “Never give up! Fight until the last play and always give everything you have. Then you can walk away proud, even if you do not win,” he said.

Aiden values the endless support he gets from his entire family. His mom truly inspires him. “She does everything for our family. She is always taking care of other people and never complains about it,” says Aiden.

On a final note, Aiden thanks coaches Turber and Bible. They pushed and set high expectations making him a betterplayer and preparing him for college ball. “It has been a blast,” he said.
