Q&A with Glenpool’s Ryleigh Hunter – Presented by Redbud Physical Therapy Glenpool

VYPE: What year are you, what sports do you play, and are you involved with any other activities?

Ryleigh Hunter: I am a senior, I play softball, basketball, and I run track.

VYPE: Your coaches say you’re a great teammate. What does it mean to you to be a great teammate?

RH: What it means to be a great teammate is to be aware that the sport doesn’t revolve around you. When your teammates make a mistake, you try and lift them up instead of knocking them down. You keep great energy, and the energy will pass to the team.

VYPE: What do you love most about competing?

RH: What I love most about competing is the adrenaline. You’re always on your toes and you are filled with excitement for what the outcome will be.

VYPE: What advice would you give to your younger self?

RH: My advice I would give to my younger self is to not get into my head so much. Mistakes are bound to happen, and you won’t be perfect every single time.

VYPE: How did you learn that lesson? How much better off are you for knowing that?

RH: I’ve learned my lesson the hard way by really getting in my head with every mistake I made. I’m way better off knowing that it’s okay to make mistakes so it won’t affect my mental health.

VYPE: What are your goals for this season as an individual and as a team?

RH: My goal is to be the best teammate I can. As a team, our goal is to go win state. What I will have to do to be the best teammate is try and always stay positive.

VYPE: What will it take to reach those goals?

RH: As a team, to achieve our goal we just have to have good attitudes and effort.

VYPE: Who’s your favorite athlete?

RH: My favorite athlete is Gabby Thomas.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?

RH: My plans after high school are to go to OSU or College of the Muscogee Nation to become a pharmacist.
