OFFENSE

Glenpool, who will be in year three under head coach Israel Maselera, will use multiple formations on offense and take advantage of VYPE Top 100 nominee DaMicah Woods, who gives the Warriors experience as a senior, and versatility as a running back and slot receiver. “DaMicah is a player that can play multiple positions on offense,” Maselera said. “Last year he played multiple games at both RB and slot receiver. Damicah is an extremely hard worker, and also has a lot of football IQ, almost cerebral in terms of how he processes the game, pre and post snap. He is like a coach on the field. Over the last year he has taken on more of a leadership role going into his senior season.” Glenpool, who returns four starters from a year ago, also welcomes back quarterback Reuger Tatum (6-2, 200, Jr.), center Switzer McGeeley (5-11, 270, Jr.), offensive lineman TJ Christel (5-11, 240, Jr.) and wide receiver Dyson Sanders (6-0, 175, Jr.). “We will utilize multiple formations to our advantage. Our identity is to be a spread/smash mouth football team. We expose defensive angles both horizontally and vertically and physical toughness to control the tempo of the game. We can go really fast, or slow things down to take advantage of the clock,” Maselera said.

DEFENSE

The Warriors will use a three-man front defensive scheme with a bend-don’t break philosophy. They return five starters, including DaMicah Woods, who will line up at outside linebacker. “Swarming defense, get as many helmets to the football as possible,” Maselera said. “Effort, and preparation is what we coach. Being prepared has you play fast, and that’s what we want from all of our players.” Other key pieces to the Glenpool defense will be defensive lineman Switzer McGeeley (5-11, 270), defensive lineman TJ Christel (5-11, 240), wide receiver Dyson Sanders (6-0, 175) and junior cornerback Judah Byrd (5-8, 160). Chris Rolland will also play a big role on the defensive line for the Warriors once he returns from injury. “Chris Rolland came to us just before the 2022 football season. He played a big part as a major player anchoring our defensive line,” Maselera said. “He can also play any position on the offensive line. Not only a great leader on the field but off the field. He will have to miss the first part of the season due to injury, but once he is back he will have a huge impact on the field on Friday nights.”
